  1. Systems biology – Apply DNA microarray, mass spectrometry, 2-hybrid expression system, and bioinformatics technologies to (i) characterize the biomodules essential for cell survival upon environmental perturbations in Halobacterium sp. NRC-1 and Haloarcula marismortui and (ii) identify the new functions of more than 50% of all the predicted genes in these microorganisms.
  2. Biomarker discovery – Identify cancer diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets using bioinformatics and mass spectrometry tools.
  3. Technology development – EST database mining, mass spectrometry, and mass spectrometry data analysis system.
